Scarlett's Birth Story!

This entire pregnancy was different than Jamison's.  I found out of I was pregnant the day after Christmas and with in the next two weeks I was in the ER for bleeding.  Of course I thought the worst, but was obviously hoping for the best.  It was amazing to have an ultrasound Saturday night and see nothing more than a circle, and go back 5 days later and see a heartbeat! The miracle of life truly is amazing.  I was sick. A lot.  I remember saying all the time, that since this pregnancy was so rough, my labor/delivery would be a breeze!

August 29, 2012
I went in for my 39 week prenatal appointment!  Hoping for the midwife to get something going!!  I was positive for Group B strep this time, she wouldn't.  She did, however, Schedule me for an ultrasound September 11.  You kidding me?  I cried.  Real big alligator tears.  I COULD NOT...WOULD NOT be pregnant for two and a half more weeks.  She promised me I wouldn't and even bet that i'd have the baby before the weekend was over!  She joked around about barometric pressure because of the hurricane coming.  I shrugged it off as nothing and left.

I was at The Barn working and having some serious contractions.  They were hurting, but not the real deal! Since this wasn't my first rodeo, I didn't get my hopes up!  Jamison spent the night with my mom tonight.  Jimmy and I were playing Rock Band on the x-box, the contractions were growing closer, I could feel my stomach tightening but still...didn't hurt enough.

September 1, 2012
I woke up to what seemed like deja vu!  It was 5:00am and I was in full blown labor!  Same scenario I had with Jamison!  This go-round I had an app on my phone that timed contractions, so I did that for a couple hours while I let Jimmy sleep.  Took a shower, got last minute things together, and tried to lay back down.  It wasn't happening.  Laying in a bed while trying to deal with contractions is the worst possible thing a woman can do.  Finally, around 9:30 I worked up the courage to call the midwife!  Elisabeth was on call, I was excited about that!  My contractions were about 7 minutes apart, but boy oh boy were they strong, and consistent   She sent me in to be checked.  The triage nurse was AWFUL, a total hag.  I'll never forget that woman the rest of my life.  She told me I wasn't in labor,  I should be in more pain, blah, blah blah.  Elisabeth told her she would check me when she got to the hospital.  I was already 6cm!  Thank the Lord!  Take that stupid triage nurse.
I knew I wanted the epidural, BUT, (there's always a but) since I was group B positive I had to get a full dosage of antibiotics first.  Finally two hours and one more centimeter after getting to the hospital I got the drugs! She broke my water and the next few hours were smooth sailing! A little after 4:00pm I told the nurse I could feel a ton of pressure! (My epidural was soooo much better this time! I could feel the pressure of contractions, but not the pain.)  Elisabeth came in, gowned up and we pushed.  For ten whole minutes! WHAT!  I had psyched myself up, and I remember thinking in my head I know what to do, I just gotta give it all I got and get this baby out.  Jimmy, my Mom and my Grandma were in the room with me when my sweet sweet baby girl joined the world.  It was absolutely perfect.  I spent the next hour just us, those sweet moments I'll never forget.

Jamison's Birth Story

Now that I have a place to keep my thoughts, it's time to formally put up the babes' birth stories!  Not that i'll ever forget every second of those precious life changing days, but they might like to know the play by play of their big debut!

September 10, 2008

We're officially 3 days overdue.  I headed to the midwife, secretly hoping to be sent to the hospital for an induction! I was done...D.O.N.E. done.  Such was not the case.  In fact, everything looked great, baby is just not ready to come out yet!  We'll go ahead an schedule you for next Monday. K great, Thanks!  I did have some serious contractions on the way home after she did her thing, so I called in to the Barn and that began my Maternity leave.

September 12, 2008

I woke up at 5 am to contractions...they kept coming, and hurt....bad.  I wanted to make sure this was the real deal!  I took a warm shower, they didn't go away!!  We didn't take any childbirth classes, and really had no Idea what to expect, or how to cope with the pain, you know, other than watching 'A Baby Story on TLC'! ;) After two and a half hours of Jimmy timing and recording my contractions, and me pacing the floor in agony, punching the wall, yelling, etc.,  I called the Midwife on duty, and was so relieved that it was my favorite one, Christy!  She agreed, we should go in!    I'll never forget the way Jimmy acted!  I think he was walking on egg shells, scared to death I was going to bite his head off!
They admitted us, and I met my nurse, Shannon, she rocked my socks.  Seriously, AMAZING! I think with out her my experience wouldn't have been so great!  About an hour later I got my epidural.  OH SWEET RELIEF!  The rest of the labor was smooth sailing, that is until it was time to push!!  In the room with me, I had a whole cheering squad!  Jimmy on one side, Mary on the other.  My mom, my sister, and my Mamaw as well as the nurse and the midwife!  It was tough,  I pushed for an hour.  I thought I was gonna die!!  I couldn't feel a thing(maybe that amazing epidural/spinal cocktail the anesthesiologist injected into me hours earlier wasn't such a great idea!  Well, it was a great idea, but it made things more difficult that's for sure!).  Finally, she said reach down, I pulled my sweet boy out and up onto my chest! Oh my goodness, I was a Mommy!!  When the midwife lifted him up to suction him and wipe him down, he peed on her!!  Literally minutes old and he's already being a little stinker!!  A foreshadowing of what was to come!!!

Easter 2013

The bunny came!  He left some pretty sweet baskets for the kiddies!  Jamison got mostly candy, a kite which were super excited to use, avengers, and a fly wheel.  Scarlett's basket had food, and some snacks that she was eager to try!! Some bubbles and new clothes!!
Apparently the Easter Bunny likes target just as much as I do!  I wont be able to get away with that much longer!

The weather wasn't that great, in fact it was extremely cold!!  We visited the Johnson Family at Mamie's  and the Estes family at Gamma and Papaw's!  The day didn't feel rushed and it was great to spend time with people we don't get to see much.  Jamison really got into the egg hunts this year!  He found lots of money! Of course he wanted to "cash everything in for dimes!" (We have a "dimes for Disney  jar we put all the dimes we find in to save up for our upcoming Disney trip!) Jamison looked so handsome in his bow tie! (That is of course, once I convinced him that he could in fact breathe with it on!!!)  Scarlett was pretty in purple!!

Cheesin'!

The only picture I have of her by herself on Easter! Bad Mommy!!

I knew we didn't have a family picture of the four of us, so I made it my misison to get one today!  After about 26 tries (not even kidding) we got one!  Of course by this time Jamison had already taken off his dress clothes!

The Greatest Show on Earth!

I knew the circus would be coming soon, its here in Cincy every March.  We'd been once before, when Jamison was 2. After seeing this years theme was "Dragons" I knew my boy would be all over it!  I got really awesome coupons from work...like really awesome, $66 worth of tickets for $30!  You see, I'm trying to be frugal this year!!  I even went to Dollar Tree and stocked up on glow sticks and swords for amuse the boys and keep us from being conned into buying a $25 spinning toy, AGAIN, I learned my lesson last time!

I'm totally bummed all my pictures look so craptastic.

These chicks were hanging by their hair!  I can't handle baby girl pulling mine!!
This was the boys favorite.  Motorcycle on the tight rope!

What happens when you ask Daddy-O to take a picture....I prefer the 1...2...3...Smile approach!

Jamison had a great time, although I think he was just excited to spend some time with Cooper!

Scarlett and Cecelia were so funny! Neither one had ever been around another baby before!!
They're only about a week apart! I'm thinking future Bffs??!!
Here's the thing that baffles me with this...I can't put her to bed and tip toe out of the room not making a sound with out her waking up.  But here, at the circus Sleeping Beauty can snooze through all the singing and dancing, and extremely loud music!!

Jimmy and I don't get many of days off together, so it's weekends like this we really cherish!

One more thing.

When I was uploading these pictures I found one I didn't take.
That perfect shot is the handy work of my 4 year old!

Us.

So, I realize I have this perfect little family.  We're complete now.  We don't have everything, but in the grand scheme of things, we have it all.  We do all these fun things, and my babies are amazing, I don't want to forget ANY of it.  Time isn't slowing down, and I'm not getting any younger.  I need a place to look back, a place to capture every milestone, vacation, triumph, set back.  A place to capture life; our life.  This is it, and this is us Rogers, Party of 4!!

Jimmy and I just celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary.  It's hard to believe we've been together for our entire adult life, seriously, He's been my main squeeze since I was 17!  Jamison is such a crazy, fun loving little guy!  He goes NON stop!!  Such a typical little boy, loves super heroes, grilled cheese, and tickle fights!! He starts kindergarten this fall, commence tears....NOW!  Scarlett is precious.  She is absolutely beautiful, and has a smile that will melt your heart!

  I love us.
