May: It's a Tradition!

There's a lot of things I hate about this house, but it does have it's advantages!  Location being #1! We've got anything we'd ever need minutes away, 15 minutes to Florence or Cincinnati, not to mention 2 really awesome parks with in walking distance!

Jamison loves to do anything outside, so a nature hike is just perfect!
Scarlett's first time in the swing was a big success!! Smiles the entire time!

We also have these two really awesome trees! I just wish they bloomed longer!
Starting to realize if it wasn't for my iphone I wouldn't really have any  pictures!

This was a big month for Shiz, she turned 18 and being the great Big Sis that I am, I took her to Bobby Mackey's! (She really wanted to go to Pulse, but let's be honest, that just really isn't my scene!)  She also graduated, but that'll get a post of it's own!!
I managed to get a picture with the Robertson's!!  Speaking of, whenever we watch Duck Dynasty Jimmy always tells me they remind him of my family!! I like to take that as a compliment!

Mother's Day was very low-key! Quite frankly, it was perfect!  Just the four of us spend the whole day together: we walked around the Flea market where Jamison got to spend his tooth fairy money on a really awesome noisy light up sword, cuddled up on the couch for a movie.  I may or may not have taken a snooze!

Jimmy made reservations at Outback for dinner!  However, reservations on Mother's Day still constitute a 45 minute wait!!  The service sucked, but this happened....

So, Jimmy and I enjoyed a rather peaceful dinner while sis chowed on rye bread and some of Jamison's mac&cheese!
We had a full week off together, May 21-June 1!  Absolute Heaven.  The majority of our free time was spent on Lindsey's graduation party and re-modeling Mamaw's kitchen.  We did manage to hit up "our beach" for the first time of the summer!!  I really want to have Family traditions my kids can look back on!  I don't really recall any, not that I feel like my childhood wasn't great, it's just important to us!  Going to East Fork Lake, spending the day swimming, playing in the sand and packing a picnic lunch on the beach is something we absolutely love. We try to do this as many times as we possibly can all summer.  On special trips we pick up dinner at the Great Scott Diner and head to the Drive in too!!

Watching them play together is one of my favorite things!

Momma needs some sun on that ghostly white bod.

e doesn't pose for pictures a lot, but when he does, they're classic!!

The baby pool on the beach is genius! I give myself major props for coming up with that one!

 Baby's first Drive-In Movie!
Deelicious!!

Big news for Jamison this month,  he didn't loose one tooth, he lost TWO!!!  Seriously, that's straight up big boy stuff!  We're working on the sleeping in his own bed every night thing!!  We have slip ups, but i'm not worried, and the one's who are don't really matter! ;-)  Iron Man 3 came out and him and Jimmy went to see it, in costume!

Scarlett has mastered the backwards scoot, and still shows no interest in real crawling!!  She's probably the only baby I know who loves meat, hot dogs, ground beef, lunch meat,  haven't really found one she doesn't like.  She loves to mimic facial expressions and sounds now, it's absolutely presh, she's discovered she can do the cutest clicking sound with her tongue   Of all the shows kid shows that drive me nuts, Dora tops the list.  She loves it.  Like goes ballistic when the theme song comes on.  I took a video of it, I need to upload it.  Seriously, screaming  clapping, bouncing, cheering!  She's head over heels in love with Dora! Great.

I almost forgot!!  I pinned this a while back because I thought it was funny.
. My Dad came to pick Jamison up to take him for an overnight Camp-out in his Truck.  The truck is an '89, so naturally it doesn't have power windows.  Jamison wanted the window down but couldn't find the button. I rolled it down, he squealed with delight and proceeded to tell me how cool that was!
Kids are funny.

What happened in April

Now that May is nearly over, I suppose it's time to get April's recap up!  I knew when I started this that keeping some type of a schedule would be difficult!  Typically I would say, not a lot going on here, but I challenged myself to keep track of things we did this month and quite frankly,  there's more to report than I would have thought!!  First things first, I saw this during one of my nightly trips through the amazing world that is PINTEREST!  It really stood out, sometimes I need a reminder to be grateful for all the blessings in my life, and quit comparing my life to others.

Because really....what more could I want. This here....this is perfection!!

My little busy body decided my living room curtains needed revamped!  He said they were too boooring.!! He just looks mischievous doesn't he!

He's right, they're a little less boring now!

My family tends to refer to me as Car-seat Obsessive, I've even heard "Car-seat Nazi".  It's whatev though, I just can't imagine being involved in a crash and something happening to either of my babes because I was too careless to have them restrained properly.  That my friends, is a guilt I couldn't live with!  Jamison hit 50lbs, and we finally agreed to start riding in a booster!  If and only if he could prove to me that he could sit like a big boy the entire time....he was thrilled, and so is everyone else!!  Although, my child buys into every damn "As seen on TV" gimmick he sees via the Spout Network!!  Moving to a booster only meant one thing to him,  I CAN GET A SEAT PET!!  I checked into it, they're outrageously priced,  I wasn't doing it.  I figured I could whip up something just as good!  I did! I don't have any pictures though...in due time!
First ride!

Jamison is started to get really anxious about starting Kindergarten in the Fall.  We all recently went and took a tour of the school.  I'm not gonna lie, it's pretty huge for an elementary school, and quite intimidating for such a little guy i'm sure.  He is obsessed with flying, every wish he ever makes, whether he's blowing out his birthday candles, or throwing a penny into a wishing well is that he could fly.  He wants to fly soo bad.  He got  some kind of dragon in his Happy Meal with wings that moved when you pushed down on a button, the boy tried to jump off the side of the couch with the dragon trying to fly!! He tries to jump off of things wearing his buzz lightyear wing back and get's mad when he smacks the ground!  I'm thinking I have a future pilot on my hands!
There's nothin' better than digging for worms!
Even Aunt Shizzy got in on the bubble wrap fun this time!
This is why we dig for worms all.the.time!

Every year for Christmas we opt out of a bunch of presents and ask for Membership passes to the Cincinnati Zoo!  Seriously, I think it's the best gift ever!! It never gets old!  This was Sissy girl's first trip!

Jamison and a Jameson snake...How cool is that!!

What's cooler than spider man crocs? Yeah, I couldn't think of anything either!!
First time on a carousel!
Look how strong I am!!
Passed out in the nocturnal house, how ironic!
Big enough for a back carry! YAHOO!!
Love them boys!
Just love them jeans!!
4D movies are the coolest!

GAHHH, I feel like i'm trying to cram so much in here!!!  Next time maybe I won't screw around!  Scarlett is such a swweet girl, this month it was like a switch went off and suddenly taking a bath was fun!  She has the most fabulous cheeks and the chunkiest legs that just scream SQUEEZE ME!!  Only downside, she's spoiled rotten and quite possibly the world's clingiest baby!!  Her newest favorite thing to do is blow bubbles!!  She's decided she's over baby food and would much rather have whatever your eating!
She's a pro at feeding herself!  Here she's chowing down on sweet potatoes and peaches!
She's turning into such a big girl, it's times like this when she falls asleep on my chest that I really want to stop time.  I'm going to miss having a little bambino!
I hope they always love each other this much!
Daddy took this picture.  I'm in love.
I always wanted a little girl in a watermelon dress.

What else, what else....we sold the BMW and got a Camaro, I'm pretty stoked that we have something I can drive other than the Van! Jamison got a big boy bed, that Jim and I whipped up ourselves!!

Still needs painted, but i'm pretty proud of our handy-work!
He's reading to her....can't look at this with out a big smile!
Sis is finally getting some hair!! We have options now, headband or no headband!!

I'll end with this. It's pretty special!

Scarlett's Birth Story!

This entire pregnancy was different than Jamison's.  I found out of I was pregnant the day after Christmas and with in the next two weeks I was in the ER for bleeding.  Of course I thought the worst, but was obviously hoping for the best.  It was amazing to have an ultrasound Saturday night and see nothing more than a circle, and go back 5 days later and see a heartbeat! The miracle of life truly is amazing.  I was sick. A lot.  I remember saying all the time, that since this pregnancy was so rough, my labor/delivery would be a breeze!

August 29, 2012
I went in for my 39 week prenatal appointment!  Hoping for the midwife to get something going!!  I was positive for Group B strep this time, she wouldn't.  She did, however, Schedule me for an ultrasound September 11.  You kidding me?  I cried.  Real big alligator tears.  I COULD NOT...WOULD NOT be pregnant for two and a half more weeks.  She promised me I wouldn't and even bet that i'd have the baby before the weekend was over!  She joked around about barometric pressure because of the hurricane coming.  I shrugged it off as nothing and left.

August 31, 2012
I was at The Barn working and having some serious contractions.  They were hurting, but not the real deal! Since this wasn't my first rodeo, I didn't get my hopes up!  Jamison spent the night with my mom tonight.  Jimmy and I were playing Rock Band on the x-box, the contractions were growing closer, I could feel my stomach tightening but still...didn't hurt enough.

September 1, 2012
I woke up to what seemed like deja vu!  It was 5:00am and I was in full blown labor!  Same scenario I had with Jamison!  This go-round I had an app on my phone that timed contractions, so I did that for a couple hours while I let Jimmy sleep.  Took a shower, got last minute things together, and tried to lay back down.  It wasn't happening.  Laying in a bed while trying to deal with contractions is the worst possible thing a woman can do.  Finally, around 9:30 I worked up the courage to call the midwife!  Elisabeth was on call, I was excited about that!  My contractions were about 7 minutes apart, but boy oh boy were they strong, and consistent   She sent me in to be checked.  The triage nurse was AWFUL, a total hag.  I'll never forget that woman the rest of my life.  She told me I wasn't in labor,  I should be in more pain, blah, blah blah.  Elisabeth told her she would check me when she got to the hospital.  I was already 6cm!  Thank the Lord!  Take that stupid triage nurse.
I knew I wanted the epidural, BUT, (there's always a but) since I was group B positive I had to get a full dosage of antibiotics first.  Finally two hours and one more centimeter after getting to the hospital I got the drugs! She broke my water and the next few hours were smooth sailing! A little after 4:00pm I told the nurse I could feel a ton of pressure! (My epidural was soooo much better this time! I could feel the pressure of contractions, but not the pain.)  Elisabeth came in, gowned up and we pushed.  For ten whole minutes! WHAT!  I had psyched myself up, and I remember thinking in my head I know what to do, I just gotta give it all I got and get this baby out.  Jimmy, my Mom and my Grandma were in the room with me when my sweet sweet baby girl joined the world.  It was absolutely perfect.  I spent the next hour just us, those sweet moments I'll never forget.

Jamison's Birth Story

Now that I have a place to keep my thoughts, it's time to formally put up the babes' birth stories!  Not that i'll ever forget every second of those precious life changing days, but they might like to know the play by play of their big debut!

September 10, 2008

We're officially 3 days overdue.  I headed to the midwife, secretly hoping to be sent to the hospital for an induction! I was done...D.O.N.E. done.  Such was not the case.  In fact, everything looked great, baby is just not ready to come out yet!  We'll go ahead an schedule you for next Monday. K great, Thanks!  I did have some serious contractions on the way home after she did her thing, so I called in to the Barn and that began my Maternity leave.

September 12, 2008

I woke up at 5 am to contractions...they kept coming, and hurt....bad.  I wanted to make sure this was the real deal!  I took a warm shower, they didn't go away!!  We didn't take any childbirth classes, and really had no Idea what to expect, or how to cope with the pain, you know, other than watching 'A Baby Story on TLC'! ;) After two and a half hours of Jimmy timing and recording my contractions, and me pacing the floor in agony, punching the wall, yelling, etc.,  I called the Midwife on duty, and was so relieved that it was my favorite one, Christy!  She agreed, we should go in!    I'll never forget the way Jimmy acted!  I think he was walking on egg shells, scared to death I was going to bite his head off!
They admitted us, and I met my nurse, Shannon, she rocked my socks.  Seriously, AMAZING! I think with out her my experience wouldn't have been so great!  About an hour later I got my epidural.  OH SWEET RELIEF!  The rest of the labor was smooth sailing, that is until it was time to push!!  In the room with me, I had a whole cheering squad!  Jimmy on one side, Mary on the other.  My mom, my sister, and my Mamaw as well as the nurse and the midwife!  It was tough,  I pushed for an hour.  I thought I was gonna die!!  I couldn't feel a thing(maybe that amazing epidural/spinal cocktail the anesthesiologist injected into me hours earlier wasn't such a great idea!  Well, it was a great idea, but it made things more difficult that's for sure!).  Finally, she said reach down, I pulled my sweet boy out and up onto my chest! Oh my goodness, I was a Mommy!!  When the midwife lifted him up to suction him and wipe him down, he peed on her!!  Literally minutes old and he's already being a little stinker!!  A foreshadowing of what was to come!!!

Easter 2013

The bunny came!  He left some pretty sweet baskets for the kiddies!  Jamison got mostly candy, a kite which were super excited to use, avengers, and a fly wheel.  Scarlett's basket had food, and some snacks that she was eager to try!! Some bubbles and new clothes!!
Apparently the Easter Bunny likes target just as much as I do!  I wont be able to get away with that much longer!

The weather wasn't that great, in fact it was extremely cold!!  We visited the Johnson Family at Mamie's  and the Estes family at Gamma and Papaw's!  The day didn't feel rushed and it was great to spend time with people we don't get to see much.  Jamison really got into the egg hunts this year!  He found lots of money! Of course he wanted to "cash everything in for dimes!" (We have a "dimes for Disney  jar we put all the dimes we find in to save up for our upcoming Disney trip!) Jamison looked so handsome in his bow tie! (That is of course, once I convinced him that he could in fact breathe with it on!!!)  Scarlett was pretty in purple!!

Cheesin'!

The only picture I have of her by herself on Easter! Bad Mommy!!

I knew we didn't have a family picture of the four of us, so I made it my misison to get one today!  After about 26 tries (not even kidding) we got one!  Of course by this time Jamison had already taken off his dress clothes!
